Hair Story Part 3: DIY Mermaid Hair With Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL Electric Blue and Shocking Pink

In my last post, I spoke about the pre-lightening process that I went through, using Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL 00B Max Blonde, in preparation for my blue and pink Download Festival hair. I also tested some Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL Electric Blue on a strand of hair.

The fourth day came, and it was time for the big hair colouring session. Time to brave it and go for the full head blue and pink...
Thankfully, I had decided that it was best to buy another box of Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL Electric Blue, as 1 box just wouldn’t have been enough!

Once again, my sister helped me out. Thanks Donna! We started by wetting my hair, then sectioning in to 2, with the hair brought to the front. We then covered the bottom of my hair in Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL Shocking Pink, before spreading Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL Electric Blue throughout the rest of my hair, from the roots, the start of the pink section. Once Donna had finished helping, we left the dye to develop, adding a little more Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL Shocking Pink with my glove-less fingers (sin!), particularly focusing on the area where the blue ended and pink began, to make sure no blue was left and that the colours blended together nicely.

The dyes were left to develop for around 30 minutes, before I got in the shower and washed my hair.
As I washed the colours together, the pink ended up more of a purple-pink shade, but I loved the end result.

Great success, I had the mermaid hair which I have always wanted.
Ignore the date, this was taken at Download Festival in June. A friend took this by surprise, I was unprepared but it came out quite cool! His caption of 'How can anyone be this photogenic' will forever make me smile. So sweet :)
Wet hair at Download. I would like to thank the rain for my lovely curls!
and here's my hair, post-Download rain and after a few washes:
The colours soon started to wash/fade out, in to various shades of blue, turquoise, yellow, green, pink and purple. Quite funky! I then stripped my hair, using ColourB4. More about what I did next coming up in Part 4 :)

After creating my Mermaid/Download hair, I was left with over half a tube of Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL Shocking Pink, which I kept hold of. Thankfully, the tube has a resealable lid. YAY!

Once again, I was left very impressed by Schwarzkopf's products and loved my hair colours.

xXx

Disclaimer: I was very excited to have been sent a box of Live Color XXL Electric Blue and Live Color XXL Shocking Pink from Schwarzkopf. The second box of Live Color XXL Electric Blue was purchased with my own money, as were the 2 boxes of Live Colour XXL Max Blonde, which I used in the pre-lightening process. I am a massive fan of Schwarzkopf and have used many of their hair colours and other products over the years, a lot of which can be found reviewed on my blog. Big thank you to Schwarzkopf for introducing me to these colours!

I've Been Away A While...

Hello All
(or whoever is still reading my blog, after the closure of Google Reader!)

It has been over a month since my last blog post and boy, oh boy, the past month has been crazy!

I have so much to talk about, as always. So expect to see a lot more posts coming up.

I have 5 days off work, starting tomorrow, as part of my Birthweek celebrations. Yes, on Monday 8th, I turn 26 years young! And in my usual style, I'm going all-out on the celebrations!

Tonight, I am going to Wolverhampton, for a few drinks at The Giffard Arms, with my lovely sister. I love The Giff, it's an awesome 'rock pub', similar to my favourite hometown pub, The Yorkshire House, except The Giff is larger, with 2 floors, a beer garden and a 2 dancefloors (and an awesome gothic chair!).

Friday - Alton Towers with my sister, then home, quick change and off to Aberystwyth, for a night of camping, sunset on the beach and drinks, with 3 of my good lad mates

Saturday - Day at the seaside in Aber, then a meal and drinks with friends in the evening

Sunday - LONDON!!!

Monday - LONDON!!! Yes, I will be waking up in London on my actual birthday - way too excited about this!

Tuesday - Chill out day, lunch, cupcake catch-up with my bestest in the lovely Ironbridge, then cinema to see Now You See Me

I'M SO EXCITED, I NEED TO SHOUT!!!
(This is a joke between a couple of friends and I, FYI)

Anywhoooo, enough of the over-excited rambling...

Here's a bit of what I've been up to since my last post:

I went blonde (for a couple of days)

I became a mermaid (well, almost...)

I finally got to see BON JOVI live, supported by one of my favourite bands, Kids in Glass Houses

I rocked out at Download Festival

I met some awesome people!

I took my parents away for mum's birthday and a late Father's Day treat, to New Brighton and Liverpool for a night and 2 days

I bought some new Jeffrey Campbell boots!

I've shared some hilarious times with great friends

I had a lovely day out at Dudley Zoo and Castle

I've shopped, oh man, have I shopped!
(This is my Liverpool haul - going to Liverpool on payday was a bad idea!)

and I've been working out at the gym

In the space of a month, I've lost half a stone, my blood pressure has dropped and my resting heart beat has lowered. My water intake was low, but my assessment was the day after I came home from Download...

That's enough from me for now, massive ramble there!
Life is good and I'm just really happy :)

Life's Little Updates

Hello, Hi, Howdy :)

It's been some time...

Lots going on in my life of recent times; holiday, my grandad's passing, funeral and wake, redundancy risk at work (ok now), money problems, good times, bad times, drunk times, life.
(and too much thinking about tattoos...)

Blogging has been at the back of my mind, though not forgotten, as I'm always thinking 'I must blog/I need to blog about this and that'.

This post is just a little update, sharing some things and all that.

Firstly, Halloween has been and gone. We spent 6 hours travelling home from our holiday in Great Yarmouth and after a nap, I really wasn't feeling up for going out but didn't want to miss Halloween.

I went as Beetlejuice (or Beetlejuicy, maybe...)

The following day was Day of the Dead. I had the day off, a lazy day. So I woke up and painted my face, as you do...

I was then gutted to find out this week, that I had been invited to Schwarzkopf's Ultra Brights event, which was on that Thursday and I could have gone, as I was off work but didn't see the email until this week, so gutted about that!

On to the hair...
The Raspberry Rebel has faded out a lot now, after about 10+ washes.
I am once again rocking multi-coloured hair but am still getting compliments, strange.

Just a holiday snap:
I felt like Ariel for a moment :)

Download Festival
More announcements came this week...
I was already extremely happy with the headline acts: Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein.
Then they announced:
Queens of the Stone Age, Thirty Seconds To Mars, THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM, Motorhead, HIM and Alice in Chains
and one extra on Scuzz TV...
A Day To Remember!!! This made me (and a lot of people, judging on comments and the UK Twitter Trending!) very very happy. I love ADTR.
Some good acts announced, I did a sad little scream and got all 2007 me excited when they said 30 Seconds to Mars. I've seen them 8(?) times in the past, 5 in 2007 when I first discovered them. I've met the band (Hello, Jared Leto!!) a few times, one of my best memories. and I've been impatiently awaiting them to return with tour and new material. I CAN NOT WAIT.

So, tonight I fell asleep on my bed, then came online to discover a few exciting things...

1. Disney have a new Wizard of Oz movie out, Oz The Great and Powerful. March 8th 2013 UK people :)

2. Disney have a Little Mermaid Hotel...yes, A LITTLE MERMAID HOTEL...WITH LITTLE MERMAID ROOMS AND GIANT CHARACTERS OUTSIDE!!!!! OH MY.

So, I've planned my trip online, haha! £1672.35 each for 2 people, 2 weeks in July (my birthday included!!), including flights, Little Mermaid room and 14 day Disney Ultimate Park Pass. I NEED TO GO.

3. Talia Castellano, YouTube.
I've just watched a couple of videos but plan to watch more when I have some time.
Talia is 13 years young and fighting 2 types of cancer; MDS and Nueroblastoma. She describes makeup as her 'wig', a way of making her happy and inspiring others.
Truly inspirational and a beautiful girl, check out her YouTube channel.

That's all for now, hope you are all well.

I've got some Batiste reviews to get up, so I'll try get those on this week :) YAY for new Batiste!

Download Festival 2012 Ramblings

Hello my lovelies :)

So, I'm about to head off to live in a field for 4 nights/5 days, drink copious amounts of alcohol, make some amazing memories and rock out to some brilliant bands!

It's June, it's all about DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL 2012!!!

I've mentioned it on my blog a bit but if you follow me on Twitter, apols for the amount of tweets about Download...waaaaaayyyyyyy toooo exciiiiteeeeeeddddd!!!!!

Here's the full line up.

Absolutely ridic, I know.

Last year it was all about A7X, Black Stone Cherry, Bullet For My Valentine and System of a Down for me.

and when we were walking to the Main Stage and realised Skindred were on. Crazy moment where we suddenly saw tens of thousands of items of clothing being waved in the air doing the 'Newport Helicopter'. Skindred are back this year, I hope this happens again! See half way through video below...

This year, Metallica, Axewound, my faves - Kids in Glass Houses. I lose count of how many times I have now seen KIGH, I think this is between 10-12th time :) I saw them on my birthday last year at Wakestock, that was pretty rad. Watching my fave bad, front row, on my freakin' birthday!

2010 we missed due to my money and my sister's work commitments.

2009 was my first Download, that was ruled by Slipknot and Limp Bizkit for me.

There are some clashes between bands and stages this year but all in all there are 38/39 bands that I would love to see!

Download Festival has given me some of the best memories that I will always treasure. I've been to a few festivals and Download is different to every other. The people are crazy-funny and friendly, the experiences are brilliant and just everything, everything about the festival rocks! I'm always talking about memories of Download 2009 and 2011 and no doubt 2012 will provide more memories that I will go on about for the rest of my life.

I love watching videos back on Youtube and thinking 'I WAS THERE!'.

I've attached some videos of previous years that were stand out memories to me below.

Music is something that I am really passionate about and rock, whilst other genres will come and go, rock and metal are the genres that will always hold a place in my heart.

I hope you all had a great Bank Holiday Weekend and start to the week, have a great week and weekend ahead. We'll be coming home Sunday night after Black Sabbath, so home around 1:30am Monday morning. Blogging will commence Monday, when I will catch up on any comments and other blogs. I will then do posts on my recent outfits (Weekend/Week in Outfits) and the exciting Download Festival in Outfits post (this is likely to be poncho-full but I still plan to wear a different outfit every day/night! No matter the weather!) and then catching up on backlogged blog posts!

So, see you all when I'm back :)

xXx

Some videos of previous year's at Download:
*WARNING - some explicit words and possibly boobies!*
If you are not a fan of swear words, please do not watch.

Slipknot - 2009
 Limp Bizkit - 2009

Avenged Sevenfold - 2011

Black Stone Cherry - 2011

Bullet For My Valentine - 2011

Cadbury's Philadelphia, Corey Taylor and Sonisphere :)

Hello My Lovelies :)

Totally random post tonight...

I'm just a bit excited really!

Firstly...

LOOK WHAT I BOUGHT TODAY!!

I just had to!
On offer for £1 at Asda.

My thoughts:
Well, it sounds gross, but actually tastes suprisingly good!
and it smells like pure Cadbury chocolate!!!
Couldn't eat a lot though, I could see it being sickly!
I tried some on bread, not sure what else it would 'go' with really...

Corey Taylor:
A bit of Corey Taylor love right here!
For those of you who don't know, Corey is the lead singer in Slipknot and Stone Sour (you may know Through Glass, which currently has a crazy 16,683,398 views on Youtube!).
I've just been listening to/watching Stone Sour on Scuzz and got all excited as Corey is performing at Download Festival this year, YAY!! Only problem is his accoustic (aaah!!) set is very likely to clash with Biffy Clyro...DILEMMA!!
Anyway, just wanted to show some love <3

Sonisphere:
Sooooooo excited :) Found out earlier that there is another Sonisphere Festival announcement tonight...AT MIDNIGHT! Good job I stay up late on work nights!
There are still a few bands I am desperate to see again/for the first time and hoping that either Download or Sonisphere will add to their line-ups, Papa Roach, Motley Crue, Stone Sour, The Used...any of these would make me very happy :)
They already have Kiss and Queen headlining...pretty legendary! and it is on my Birthday weekend! Even though it looks like I may be going alone...yay!

Anywhoooo, enough rambling.
Now, to watch Skins, The Big Bang Theory (x2) and await the Sonisphere announcement...wooooo!!

Have you tried Cadbury's Philly yet?
Any love for Corey Taylor?
Any fellow Download/Sonisphere goers??

xXx

Ramblings of an excited girly :)

A little ramble from me tonight :)
I'm in an excitable mood and just wanted to blog!

Firstly...

Download Festival
My sister and I have officially BOOKED OUR TICKETS!! (Thanks to my dad for borrowing me the money so we could get them before the price increase!)
Weekend + 5 day camping tickets, car park and locker, sorted!
Just need to save, plan and get a couple of our friends to hurry up and book tickets now :)
I am soooooo soooooo excited to have the tickets booked!
I've been excited for the past 2 lots of announcements and am also excited for next week as another 11+ bands/artists are going to be announced!
I'm hoping for Motley Crue, Papa Roach, The Used and Stone Sour...to name just a few :)
TOO EXCITED!!

\m/ OOHH YEEAAHH \m/

Nikki Sixx
On the subject of all things rock...
AMAZING!
I have always had a little obsession for Nikki Sixx but recently more than ever, yes.
He is now 53 years old and his son has just turned 21 today...yes, Nikki is 29 years older than me but still...
He was a hellraiser in the past and did things that I do not agree with (drugs!) but ignore all that and look at the man, the talent and the story.
I got his autobiography, The Heroin Diaries for Christmas. I haven't started reading yet but am excited to read it :)

A male friend asked me and my sister what our 'type' of guy would be, to which I answered 'long black hair, tattoos, in a rock band...oh, and preferably Welsh'...he was a bit stunned lol!
(Nikki Sixx isn't Welsh, but I just love the Welsh accent and Welsh men, one of my fave bands, KIGH are Welsh :) )

I'm off...
to Newcastle for a long weekend, yay!
Leaving tomorrow, straight from work at 5pm, staying til Sunday.
So, I shall be away from Blogger for the whole weekend :-o
I am really looking forward to this weekend :)

Packing
Yes....
Organised chaos.
Clothes that I plan to take, currently hanging on wardrobe and bedroom doors.
Suitcase empty (and probably will be until early hours, as I always end up packing early hours in the morning!)
I wish someone could pack for me...

There we have it, a different post to usual...some may find it boring, some may not :)

I hope all my lovely followers are having a good week so far!

xXx
